Different Styles of Tennis Play and Strategies to succeed over them

Different Styles of Tennis Play and Strategies to succeed over them

Different types of players in different sports have different and unique styles of playing and Tennis is no different. Many players face difficulties playing against a specific style which is the reason coaches in every tennis academy Dubai teach different strategies to beat every playing style so that players do not face any difficulties in the professional tournaments. Below are the different playing styles and strategies to succeed over them.

1. Players playing aggressive game on the baselines

There are players who are aggressive on the baselines and like to dictate the game by taking full control on the rallies. They usually play from the back of the court from where they usually score winners by hard hitting the ball on the baselines. Since they are hard hitters on the baselines, they force the opponents to move around the 2 corners of the court aggressively and score a point as soon as the opponent misses a corner.

Strategies to beat aggressive baseliners
  • Always vary the spin and the height of the ball you are returning to these kinds of players as they will not like high top spin and slow game.
  • Always try to bring them closer to the net because baseliners as said above are hard hitters on the baselines and they hate if someone taken them on the net

2.The serve and volley players

The serve and volley players, as the name suggests, serve and come to the net every time as soon as their serve is returned. You will not find these types of players much because the modern day game has become different but if you find one, you must be well prepared. They aggressively come to the net after the return of serve and attack as hard as they can to finish the rally so that the opponent doesn’t get time to even react.

Strategies to beat Serve and Volley Players

The first and the foremost thing taught in every tennis coaching in Dubai is to focus on the return of serve against these kinds of players because they want you to loosely return their serves so that they could easily score points. Always return down the line and keep changing the spots.

3. Defensive style of play

Defensive players are the toughest players to beat in tennis as they will hardly hit any winners and will keep on defending your hits to be in the rally and wait for you to make unforced errors because they very well know that most of the points scored in tennis are from errors. They have excellent court coverage and will return almost every shot of yours.

Strategies to beat defensive players

The most important attribute to beat a defensive player is to keep patience. They want you to lose patience by playing long rallies and that is what you must avoid. Be in the rally, don’t make errors and you will see them losing patience very soon.

4. All-court playing style

These kinds of players create huge problems for the opponents as they have excellent court coverage and play almost every shot mentioned in the book. They do not have a special shot to win the rally but are able to play everything based on the return they receive which makes them dangerous on the court

Strategies to beat all-court players

Always be aggressive against these players and try to win the rallies by dominating them. Try to stick to your weapon and whenever you get a chance, make sure you do not miss the point on your favorite shot.

Client Success Story

my coach is Chetun, I’ve been taking his class, both group one and individual one, both are great!!! He’s experienced coach, knows how to teach, especially for entry -intermediate level players. They also provide good racket (better if they replace some old strings). Very prime location and relatively good price for this quality.
